Owner Jason Hunt started working with log furniture as a teenager for his father's company, Lakeland Mills, Inc., in Michigan. In 1996 he launched his own website-based company to sell the family's log furniture products online. Initially the internet sales were through a personal webpage but in 1998 he launched it as www.JHuntEnterprises.com, which was the first log furniture store online. In 2000, Hunt launched www.CedarLogFurniture.com and continues to register rustic log furniture related domains ever since.

Initially the company offered log furniture from the family’s own log furniture company. Hunt, along with his wife Marni, also the co-owner, gradually expanded the company to offer other manufacturers’ log furniture lines. The lines that are represented are carefully vetted for quality of the wood, how the wood is prepared, how the furniture is built, and how the quality of the finished product measures up to the company’s standards.

The lines are limited to a select number of companies to ensure quality, but also to keep top-notch customer service. The various lines offer a variety of options including reclaimed furniture that is made from reclaimed wood; barn wood furniture made from old barns; and cedar log furniture. Customers can search the site for every type of rustic furniture imaginable from a log bed to a log swing or log chairs. If a piece of furniture isn’t available on the website, the company offers custom made-to-order log furniture.
